Movies and Madison

Well hello there!  It sure has been a while since my last post.  How’s everyone been?  What have I been up to you ask?  Well, not a whole lot really but I’ll fill ya in…

Last fall, Eric and I gave up our cable to help out with our church’s dominate campaign.  Since then, we really haven’t watched a whole lot of tv; instead we’ll pop in a movie.  We have a pretty good movie collection with a wide variety of movies to choose from, but we still have the hardest time picking out a movie to watch.  Well, those troubles are over.  Eric and I have begun a movie marathon – to watch all of the movies we own.  Well, not all of them.  We are not including any of the tv show seasons we have and there are a few movies we are cutting out because they really aren’t that great.  So far this week we’ve watched Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, You’ve Got Mail, The American President, The Green Mile and we are currently in the Lethal Weapon series.  We have a ways to go still, but we’re having fun in the process.

On Monday I had to take Madison, our cat, in to see the vet for her yearly exam and shots.  Madison, like many other cats, hates going to see the vet.  She seriously turns into a different cat when she’s there.  She cried the whole car ride there and, during our wait to get in the room, she sat very still in her carrier watching the other dogs in the waiting area.  As soon as we made our way in to the exam room the hissing began.  She did not come out of her carrier at all so we ended up taking the top off so the vet could examine her.  Oooooo…she did not like that at all.  The vet assistant tried to get a preliminary look at her, but Maddy wasn’t having it; she even growled like a dog when the woman tried to do anything.  She ended up just going to get the vet.  Well, nothing changed for the vet and, aside from getting a good look at her teeth, since Maddy would not stop hissing, they really couldn’t give her the shots or anything.  To make a long story short, they ended up taking her into another room and had to sedate her a bit to do the exam.  Even when on drugs, Maddy would not settle down enough for them to do a full exam.  They were able to give Maddy her shots and from what they could see she is doing just fine.  Like I said, that was on Monday…three days later Maddy is finally back to normal.  She was of course dazed and a little sick on Monday from the medicine they gave her and the past couple days she’s been a little out of it.  But today she was running around the apartment, playing with her toys and eating a lot!  The vet recommended that instead of coming in every year we come in every two years, so hopefully we won’t have a reason to go back until 2010!
