Today’s trivia is all about the best marker in the world – Sharpie!

~ Introduced in 1964, Sharpie markers are sold in seven varieties according to the size and shape of the tip (ultra fine to magnum).

~ There are 39 ink colors in production along with metallic silver.  Metallic gold and copper versions have been developed, but they have been discontinued due to problems with the ink formulas.

~ In 2004, the button-activated retractable tip Sharpie was introduced as well as Sharpie paint markers.  Sharpie minis are also in production.  Minis are half the size of normal Sharpies and include a clip to attach the marker to a key chain or lanyard.

~ Sharpie is the marker of choice for President George W. Bush.  He often rejects other writing utensils in favor of Sharpie.  The President’s Sharpies carry his signature as well as the words ‘The White House.’  There are even special Camp David Sharpies!

Do you Neti?

I was browsing the latest Bed Bath & Beyond flier yesterday and came across one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen – a Neti Nasal Cleansing Pot.

Have you ever seen one of these before? I certainly have not! Apparently this practice of nasal cleansing originated in India and many people practice Neti on a daily basis to keep their sinuses clean and to help breathe easier.  Below is an excerpt from this siteexplaining Neti:

A neti pot is filled with warm, slightly salted water and the spout of the pot is inserted into one nostril. The position of the head and pot are adjusted to allow the water to flow out of the other nostril. The technique is not as uncomfortable or difficult as you may think at first. You will be pleasantly surprised at this simple and effective practice for maintaining your health. Once learnt, neti can be done in about 3 minutes and is easily integrated into a daily routine of body cleansing such as showering or brushing your teeth.

Interesting, eh? Looks extremely awkward and uncomfortable to me.  What do you think? Will you Neti?
