During our drive up north last Saturday I got a call from my sister Mary. She was calling us to let us know that she’s getting married! Josh proposed to her on Saturday, December 20th on the docks at the City Park (where we spent all of our summer’s as kids and where Mary worked for about 7 years). I was just getting used to the fact that my sister Katie was getting married and now Mary is too!! It’s going to be a busy summer in 2009!
Congratulations Mary and Josh!

Up North

Well, Eric and I made it up north for the holidays. Poor Eric got sick with the flu or something on Thursday and we were planning to leave on Saturday. He ended up feeling ok and we got a later start than we planned on Saturday and were able to make it up to Ohio. We stayed with his parents for the night and he was able to get a good night’s rest. We then finished the drive to Michigan Sunday morning. Yesterday we had the Booth family over for Christmas. It was a great day and it was so nice to see my grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins again. I hadn’t seen most of them since our wedding! We had a white elephant gift exchange, a nice dinner and just a great time hanging out.
All the cousins (minus James, Fiona and their daughter Ainslie) with our grandparents:

Elevation Sunday at Butler

I absolutely love our church! Elevation, is a portable church with services at Providence and Butler high schools and McGlohon Theatre in Charlotte. The campus where Eric and I serve as volunteers is the Butler Campus. We usually arrive at Butler at 6:30 on Sunday mornings to help set up and create a WOW experience for those attending services that day. Below are some pictures of before and after set up as well as Eric and the parking team and me with our volunteer connections team. Click on each picture to view a larger image.

Have you ever wondered what the white half-circle shape is at the bases of your nails? It is called the lunule and shows where the hardening process is not yet complete. Below are some other facts about finger nails:
~ Nails grow about .1 mm per day
~ Fingernails tend to grow a bit faster than toenails, but toenails are twice as thick as fingernails
~ Men’s nails usually grow faster than women’s nails
~ The nails on your dominant hand tend to grow faster
Check out some of this fingernail art!

My mother-in-law sent this video to me in an email, but I think it was also on America’s Funniest Videos (one of my favorite shows). The last dog is so cute!

~ Elephants may not be used to plow cotton fields
~ Bingo games may not last longer than 5 hours unless it is held at a fair
~ Women must have their bodies covered by at least 16 yards of cloth at all times (Charlotte)
Pretty weird, eh? These laws were found on dumblaws.com.

Today is the first installment of Monday Movies.
Eric and I are currently in a Star Wars kick (yes, I love Star Wars and have even read one of the books!). This first video is Star Wars from a 3 year-old’s point-of-view.
This second video is one of the cutest videos of a laughing baby I’ve ever seen. How can you not laugh along with this cute little boy?!
